Former State Representative Pleaded Guilty In Corruption Case
Money makes good lawyers go bad!!! Former State Representative Jim Solis pleaded guilty in a corruption case. Apparently, while Solis was in private practice he paid former State District Judge Abel C. Limas to obtain favorable pretrial rulings in a lawsuit. Solis is a personal injury attorney in Harlingen and was forced to turn over $250,000 to the federal government.
In exchange for this, Solis now faces up 20 years in jail. In one case, he paid Judge Limas approximately $8,000 to obtain the favorable pretrial rulings in a lawsuit that involved a helicopter crash in South Padre Island. In that case, the plaintiffs received a $14 million dollar lawsuit.
