Mother Kills Child While Performing An Exorcism
During an exorcism of her 13-month-old daughter, a Rusk County woman bludgeoned her daughter to death. The child's head was smashed in by a hammer. Upon being questioned by the police, the couple made up several stories including auto accident, dog attack, and that the little girl hit herself with the hammer. The woman's boyfriend was sentenced to death last year after being found guilty of capital murder.
She is currently charged with
capital murder, but the death penalty was waived; thus, if she is convicted she will be sentenced to a term of life imprisonment. A person is charged with capital murder when he or she commits the offense of
murder and the victim is under the age of six. It is up to the State of Texas generally if they are going to proceed with attempting to obtain the death penalty against the defendant.
