Man Fakes Death To Avoid Court Cases Ends Up Getting Three Years For Forgery
Last August, a man entered the Salem District Court clerk's office and pretended to be his own brother. He then handed a clerk a death certificate that showed that he had passed away. The death certificate showed that he had died of cardio-respiratory arrest and was buried at Temple "Israel" Cemetery.
This actually worked--the judge then reasonably dismissed the pending cases. The man's probation officer, however, was very suspicious when he heard the news. It turned out that the man created a birth certificate using his own grandfather's actual death certificate. The problem was that the man made some bad typos.
The man was then charged with
forgery and pled guilty. He was then sentenced to three years. If you or a loved one have been charged with forgery of a document, it is important that you
